Sports Therapy and Biomechanics:
Michael Martindale graduated from the Pacific University School of Physical Therapy in 1979. He specializes in the field of orthopedic and sports physical therapy with a special emphasis on the biomechanics of the foot and lower extremities, and design of foot orthotics.
Michael owns BioSports West, a physical therapy practice found on the assessment and treatment of locomotor dysfunction, and the design and fabrication of custom foot orthotics. His clients comprise a broad spectrum from injured workers, through recreational and fitness athletes to elite level professional athletes.
Clients and Teams Served:
Michael has evaluated and made orthotics for internationally renowned athletes including Alberts Salazar, Monica Seles, Lindsey Davenport, Galen Rupp, Lance Armstrong, Kara Goucher, Scott Brosius of the NY Yankees, and Derric Brook of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. His clients also include performing artists from the Cirque Du Soleil, and members of several athletic teams including the Portland Trailblazers, Portland Fire, Portland Winterhawks, Portland Thorns and Los Angeles Lakers, as well as athletes from Stanford University, Portland State and other Local colleges and high schools.
Michael also consults with Nike, Inc., as a clinical biomechanics specialist and orthotics designer for contract athletes and employees, and on developing advanced shoe design concepts for running, soccer, tennis, and other specialist shoes.
Education and Sports Experience:
In addition to his degree in Physical Therapy, Michael has a bachelor degree in fine arts, and is an active runner, cyclist, and weight trainer. He has competed in track and field events, and for eight years, he competed in Olympic Style Weightlifting.
